Giditek (IoTsensIoTsens has successfully implemented an open innovation project for Talent Development. The initiative, which included the integration and training of doctoral students in R&D projects, has strengthened the technical expertise and innovative capacity of IoTsens' workforce, fostering a more competitive and advanced business environment.
The project has focused on implementing a strategic model based on open innovation, applying innovative methodologies throughout all phases of development: from partner selection to internal management and the absorption of generated knowledge. The main objectives have been to increase agility in the commercialization of innovative solutions, identify new trends and business models, and optimize R&D costs and risks through collaboration with strategic partners.
The research, which began in 2023, has culminated in a doctoral thesis exploring how internal practices influence the management of open innovation projects. The study's findings have contributed to establishing a framework that facilitates cooperation between participants and external partners, identifying key factors such as the team members' prior knowledge, the communication methods used, and their capacity for knowledge absorption.
After two years of work, the project has fostered an environment conducive to experimentation and product development, thanks to the support of Giditek's senior management and collaboration with technology centers and universities. The added value contributed by both internal participants and external experts has been highlighted, resulting in the creation of high-value knowledge. However, areas for improvement have also been identified, such as the need to establish more robust mechanisms for monitoring and leveraging results, emphasizing the importance of structured processes to maximize the impact of open innovation.
This project has been funded by the European Union under the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Programme Comunitat Valenciana 2021-2027 through the Talent Promotion programme, L.3 Business PhDs (Innodocto), sub-line 3.1 Support for research staff in companies for the completion of doctoral theses, with reference INNTA3/2023/13. It has a total budget of 73.432,79 euros, and a grant of 22.029,84 euros from the Valencian Institute of Competitiveness and Innovation – IVACE+i Innovation.
