Intur Collective Restoration has signed an agreement with the Healthy School Association so that the institution can certify the work that schools do in favor of the health and well-being of children.
To this end, the company has incorporated the 'Healthy Habits Department' into its school cafeteria program, a pioneering initiative in the Valencian Community that transforms the cafeteria into a combined classroom and dining area. Specifically, the objective of this department—which will be implemented at the start of the next school year—is to become a shared space for families and the school, where they can exchange experiences and information about the health of the youngest members of the family. Furthermore, parents and staff members of the school community will be able to take the "Zero" course to acquire basic information on how to implement healthy habits at home.
In this way, schools where IRC manages the cafeteria will have the opportunity to obtain one of the three levels of the "Healthy School" certificate by meeting a series of requirements. This recognition reflects to society the effort of each educational center to become a place of learning in the field of health. Among these requirements are nutrition education, daily physical activity, environmental stewardship, and knowledge of preventative health measures.
Furthermore, the Healthy School Association may award schools cafeteria-related certifications that guarantee compliance with specific requirements. These quality distinctions will be obtained after a rigorous audit by the association's professionals and include 'healthy cafeteria', 'zero fried foods', 'zero sugar', and 'zero ultra-processed foods'.
Exclusive digital space
It's worth noting that this new department also has a dedicated digital space where you can find all kinds of information about healthy habits, such as videos showing how to introduce vegetables into children's diets in a responsible way, or what constitutes a healthy meal. Among its many options, it also offers the possibility of scheduling an appointment to speak with the team of nutritionists and get answers to your questions or discuss each child's specific needs. There's even a test available to assess your knowledge of nutrition.
A new tool for families
With this Healthy Habits Department, Intur offers a new tool for families and educational centers, which aims to make the premise of healthy children a reality.
María Pascual, director of IRCShe emphasized that “a healthy and sustainable life begins in childhood, through education, and develops throughout life, through habits. At Intur, we play an essential role in the lives of our students, particularly their nutrition during their school years. We cannot miss this opportunity to help them adopt healthy habits.”
In short, this new step towards healthy eating will allow schools and families to also learn about this habit, making Intur's cafeterias go beyond the school doors and reach the homes of each member of the school, from teachers to students, thus also involving families.
