FOBESA renews the waste collection service in Tibi for 9 years with a model focused on sustainability

In order to guarantee basic food supplies to groups such as children in situations of special vulnerability, whose families are in a state of severe precarity and who have been affected by the closure of schools due to the restrictive measures decreed within the framework of actions against COVID-19, the Castelló City Council and Intur Restauración Colectiva, through the Family and Childhood Office, have reached an agreement that will allow the launch of an emergency home food service.
Specifically, Intur Restauración Colectiva will prepare more than 400 menus daily in its central kitchens in the capital of La Plana, which will be delivered house by house, both in the city of Castelló and in Grau.
The distribution will begin tomorrow, Monday, March 23, and the main objective of this emergency food program is to help families in the city who are in a particularly precarious situation, bringing food to their homes to prevent possible infections.
Regarding this, the Councillor for Social Welfare, Dependency, and Childhood, José Luis López, explained that “we are facing a health emergency, but also a social one, and the Castelló City Council must take extreme measures to guarantee basic services and rights to the most vulnerable groups. In this case, the Department of Social Welfare has activated this new service to ensure proper nutrition for children at risk or in vulnerable situations in the city of Castelló. With this measure, we guarantee that both they and their immediate family will have access to a complete meal and an additional one each day for the duration of the confinement decreed under the state of emergency due to Covid-19.”
For her part, María Pascual, Director of the Catering Area at Intur Restauración Colectiva, stated that “it is very rewarding for Intur Restauración to be able to participate in such a special service as this, helping families who need it most during a particularly difficult time.” Regarding the menus, Pascual explained that “it is a healthy eating program consisting of a main course with a first course, a second course, packaged toast, and dessert, as well as a complementary snack that, in addition to meeting the nutritional needs of the children, strictly complies with the regulations established by the Regional Ministry of Health and the Regional Ministry of Education.”
The menu items will be individually packaged in heat-sealed trays, and home deliveries will be made Monday through Friday. To expedite distribution, which will take place before 2:00 p.m., Intur Restauración's logistics network and vehicle fleet will be used, along with the collaboration of Telepizza's motorcycle delivery service, which is also joining this initiative. In this way, the meals will arrive at homes properly protected, door-to-door, avoiding unnecessary travel for individuals and promoting social distancing.
Regarding the duration of this service, the provision will continue until educational activity resumes in the city's schools in order to safeguard healthy food for those families who need it most during this exceptional period.
