We carried out the demolition and construction work for the new Mestre Canós Infant and Primary School in Castelló de la Plana, a project developed within the framework of the Edificant Plan. This project has brought about a complete transformation of one of the municipality's most emblematic educational centers, adapting it to the current needs of the educational community.
The work has resulted in the construction of a modern building on a plot of approximately 2.800 square meters. The new center, with a constructed area of over 2.500 square meters, has an L-shaped layout and features two floors in one of its wings. It is designed to accommodate up to 245 students, distributed across preschool and primary education units, and also includes complementary spaces such as a library, computer lab, gymnasium, and multipurpose areas.
The center incorporates significant improvements in energy efficiency, such as the installation of photovoltaic panels for self-consumption, along with responsible waste management measures implemented during construction. Furthermore, the project integrates social criteria, promoting the hiring of people with barriers to employment and prioritizing the use of local materials, such as ceramics from Castellón for facades and interiors.
With an investment exceeding 4,5 million euros, financed by the Valencian Government, the new CEIP Mestre Canós is an innovative, accessible educational space adapted to the challenges of the future.
