The Xilxes Town Council and Fobesa They have implemented a new procedure for the collection of bulky waste, pruning waste and electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), with the aim of improving the efficiency of the service, strengthening control over the deposits and projecting a cleaner and more cared-for image of the municipality.
The new systemThe new system, which introduces mandatory appointments, is based on a methodology that individually identifies each waste item using a unique number linked to each collection request. This advancement optimizes the management of waste deposited on public roads, reduces the time it remains on the street, and prevents unauthorized dumping that could negatively impact the urban environment.
Thanks to this procedure, each item can be associated with a specific operation, which facilitates both control and efficiency of the service. Furthermore, it significantly improves the logistical planning of collection routes, allowing staff to identify in advance the type and exact location of the items to be collected.
Household waste collection will take place every two weeks throughout the year, with increased frequency during the summer months in the coastal area of the municipality, where weekly collection has been implemented until mid-September. This increased frequency is in response to the higher volume of waste generated during peak season, especially in tourist areas.
With this initiative, the City Council is taking a step forward in modernizing urban waste management, committing to a more efficient and sustainable model aligned with policies for improving the urban environment and promoting shared environmental responsibility. The implementation of this system also reinforces the institution's commitment to combating littering and promoting best practices in street cleaning and local sustainability.
