A pioneering chair is created at the University of Valencia that connects water and bioenergy to address environmental challenges.

The Universitat Jaume I and FOBESA The scholarships were awarded today. FOBESA The scholarships were awarded to 26 undergraduate students from the UJI (Universitat Jaume I) residing in Benicàssim at a virtual ceremony. The event was presided over by the Rector of the University, Eva Alcón, and included the participation of the President of Grupo Gimeno, Enrique Gimeno; the Director of FOBESA, Juan Pablo Mateo; the Vice-Rector for Studies and Social Commitment, Inmaculada Rodríguez; the Mayor of Benicàssim, Susana Marqués; and the Manager of the UJI General Foundation, Juan Antonio Bertolín.
The FOBESA Scholarships aim to promote the education of students at the public university of Castelló, as well as to project synergies between the business sector and the university community with the objective of boosting the social and economic development of its immediate environment.
In this regard, the scholarships, totaling over €22.100, have been allocated to support university students enrolled in the 2020-2021 academic year who reside in Benicàssim and who, due to their financial circumstances, may have difficulty paying current university fees. Both academic and financial criteria were considered in awarding these scholarships.
The call has received 59 applications: three from the Arts and Humanities branch; 36 from the Social Sciences and Law branch; three from Sciences; five from Engineering and Architecture; and 12 from Health Sciences.
During his speech, the president of Grupo Gimeno, Enrique Gimeno, congratulated the scholarship recipients and emphasized that for the company, “it is a true pleasure and an honor to contribute, as much as possible, to facilitating access to university studies for the young people of the town.” He also highlighted “the essential role that universities play in building a better society” and expressed the company's commitment to “continue collaborating with Universitat Jaume I and the Benicàssim City Council to promote talent and jointly address other challenges and projects aimed at the sustainable economic and social progress of the municipality.”
For her part, the Rector of Universitat Jaume I, Eva Alcón, emphasized that “these scholarships represent a dual opportunity: for the students, the chance to pursue higher education; and for the University, the opportunity to support students in their academic training and personal growth.” She also expressed her gratitude to the Gimeno Group for its support of a scholarship program that demonstrates “a commitment to young talent and a belief in university education as a path to social improvement.”
Finally, the mayor of Benicàssim, Susana Marqués, stated that “it is a source of pride that companies in Benicàssim are supporting students in their education and investing in talent because they are the future of our city.” Marqués also thanked the Universitat Jaume I “for guiding our students through a crucial stage of their lives for their overall development as individuals, where the acquisition of knowledge is complemented by a culture of effort, hard work, and perseverance—very important values that will serve them well throughout their lives in achieving their academic goals, their professional aspirations, and also their personal dreams.”
