The implementation of the organic waste fraction in Onil has been a complete success. This has been reflected in the figures from the study that FOBESA has carried out the collection of waste deposited in the municipality's containers, installed since February 22nd.
After randomly sampling different containers in the town, it was found that 98,70% of waste was correctly deposited, with only 1,29% being incorrectly disposed of. This demonstrates the strong commitment of the community to separating waste at the source and its resulting positive impact on the environment. environment.
It is worth highlighting the fundamental role played by the information and awareness campaign carried out by the Onil City Council and FOBESA in recent months, which has helped the residents of the town to understand the correct functioning of the new waste fraction.
Similarly, the design of the containers has been key, as they can only be opened with an AGA key, which has been given to the more than 1.000 people registered in the collection program in order to ensure that only families aware of the correct separation of waste would use the new containers.
Furthermore, to encourage organic waste collection, efforts are underway to expand the service to larger producers, who will be provided, upon request, with a 360-liter locked container that they must have available for collection on the designated day. Similarly, the service now includes the collection of commercial cardboard for participating businesses, preventing the local paper and cardboard recycling points from becoming overloaded.
In this context, the company, together with representatives from the City Council, presented a new satellite collection truck, which, thanks to its small size, is ideal for collecting waste in narrow streets such as those in the town's historic center. This expands the fleet available for the service, which already includes a collection truck of approximately 20 m³.3 capacity.
