Myriam Gimeno shares Nealis's vision on equality at the 10th Colloquium on Women, Science and Business

The Muro de Alcoi City Council and FOVASAThe company responsible for waste collection (municipal solid waste, paper and cardboard, and packaging) and bulky waste in the municipality, as well as the management of the recycling center, will launch a campaign to progressively implement the so-called 'fifth container' in the town. This brown container is for the recovery of organic matter.
To facilitate collection tasks, 2.200-liter side-loading containers with closures will be installed, and in the case of large producers in the municipality, special 120-liter containers will be distributed to facilitate source separation.
As for residents, small household containers will also be distributed to facilitate waste separation for all those who sign up for the service. In addition, an information campaign will be launched to address any questions the public may have about recycling.
The Councillor for Municipal Services, Enrique Pascual Vañó, commented that “this is another step we are taking from the Muro Town Hall to offer the residents a convenient and useful waste separation service at the source, thus contributing to awareness, sustainability and improved waste management, adding to the actions in favor of the environment.”
As for the waste that should be placed in this container, in addition to food scraps such as fruits, vegetables, fish or meat, eggshells or shellfish shells, corks, tea bags, coffee filters, napkins, kitchen paper with stains or food residue, matches, sawdust or small garden waste should be separated here.
In this regard, FOVASA has pointed out that “in addition to reducing environmental impact, proper waste separation helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and helps close the organic matter cycle by converting waste into resources such as agricultural fertilizer.”
The addition of the container for organic waste will also be complemented by a reinforcement of the containers dedicated to the rest of the waste, to promote separation and contribute to greater care for the environment.
