Foz promotes a strategic modernization of its urban water cycle with a new management contract

The Benaguasil Town Council has presented its new municipal solid waste (MSW) collection and street cleaning service, following the implementation of the contract awarded to Fovasa Medioambiente. The five-year concession, valued at €780.000 annually, includes significant improvements to both infrastructure and services, with the aim of optimizing waste management in the municipality, which has a population of 12.000.
Fovasa Medioambiente, a leading environmental company in the province of Valencia, has taken over the collection and transport of municipal waste generated in Benaguasil, as well as the cleaning of streets and public spaces. Among the improvements implemented is an increased frequency of collection for pruning and gardening waste, and for general waste, throughout the municipality. Street cleaning will be provided Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 20:00 p.m. using both mechanical and manual sweeping to cover all areas. Additionally, three weekly street washing and watering sessions will be implemented, along with the cleaning of street furniture. A water tanker truck has been assigned to the municipality and will operate on the three weekly washing days, ensuring the proper cleaning of public roads.
One of the most significant advances is the introduction of new technologies that enable more efficient and sustainable management. Among these improvements, Fovasa has implemented real-time control and monitoring systems for collection vehicles and routes, ensuring optimized working times and improved service for residents.
To meet new efficiency standards, Fovasa has renewed its fleet of vehicles and machinery. The new equipment includes two rear-loading trucks, one 22m³ and the other 7m³, a 4m³ sweeper, a 2m³ electric sweeper, an open-bed truck, and an electric van. These vehicles will not only allow for greater cleaning capacity but will also reduce CO₂ emissions, in line with the company's environmental commitment.
Furthermore, all the residual waste containers have been replaced and are now adapted to the rear-loading collection system and equipped with lids, thus facilitating waste disposal by residents. In addition, Fovasa It has included a drain cleaning service to ensure optimal street maintenance.
To ensure the proper functioning of the service, Fovasa The service will be staffed by a team of 15 professionals, consisting of a supervisor, five drivers, and nine laborers. This team will be responsible for waste collection and cleaning throughout the municipality, operating Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 20:00 p.m., ensuring adequate coverage in all areas.
The councilor for the area, Patricia Merenciano, has had a firsthand look at the vehicles, machinery, and containers that will be part of this new service, designed to meet the needs of Benaguasil's growth and to significantly improve waste collection, maintenance, and cleanliness in our municipality. In this regard, she pointed out that "all these modifications aim to improve the service and meet citizens' demands in such an important matter as cleaning and waste collection, a service that will not entail any increase in the municipal waste collection fee for the residents of Benaguasil."
With the addition of these new services, Benaguasil reinforces its commitment to caring for the urban environment and improving the quality of life of its residents.
