IoTsens, the Grupo Gimeno company specializing in comprehensive Internet of Things hardware and software solutions, has deployed an innovative project in PortCastelló that optimizes storage systems in industries such as ceramics by calculating parameters such as the volume of material accumulated in a given physical space in real time.
Specifically, as Ignacio Llopis, Managing Director of IoTsens, explained, “using a dynamic 3D modeling algorithm powered by smart sensors, we have been able to calculate in real time the amount of ceramic material managed by the warehouse.” “In addition to representing a very important innovative solution in terms of logistics and stock control, the application of this technology also implies significant savings in time and costs,” Llopis emphasized.
IoTsens has placed 20 smart sensors in a warehouse of about 2.000 square meters intended for the storage of bulk goods for the ceramic industry, which Gimeno Logística Portuaria manages in the Port of Castellón.
The sensors, strategically placed at a height of 25 meters, constantly measure the distances between the ceiling, walls and floor to collect real-time information on the angle, material density and volume of stored cargo and transform that data into precise calculations.
An integrated input system, comprised of sensor data, is combined with an intelligent algorithm to generate output indicators that are instantly transmitted to the IoTsens cloud. This allows for precise, real-time monitoring of the exact fill level in each quadrant of the warehouse. This technology opens up countless possibilities for the industry and reinforces PortCastelló's commitment to technological advancements at its facilities.
In this respect, this new technology, which has already been successfully implemented in these facilities, represents a significant boost for sectors such as ceramics, given the improvements it enables in terms of saving time and costs. Among other advantages, its application will contribute to increasing the efficiency of their production processes and reducing both costs and CO2 emissions.
