Torreblanca digitizes water management with Facsa technology to improve service efficiency

The work, carried out for ABAQUA before the peak season, improves the reliability of the purification system, reduces the risk of incidents and strengthens the response capacity of the sanitation network.
Facsa has carried out the preventive cleaning work of the pumping stations associated with the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) of Ibiza, an action promoted by the Balearic Agency for Water and Environmental Quality (ABAQUA) to prepare the infrastructures for the increase in activity typical of the high season.
This intervention, carried out during the months prior to summer, allows for strengthening the safety, reliability and responsiveness of the sanitation network at a time when the volume of wastewater generated increases considerably, especially in areas with greater residential, tourist and port activity.
The work involved checking the overall condition of the pumps and removing debris, sand, and accumulations that could affect the proper functioning of the equipment. These preventative measures reduce the risk of incidents, improve service continuity, and help prevent potential problems caused by the accumulation of debris in the drains.
The work has been carried out on all the pumping stations associated with the Eivissa WWTP, with special attention to the facilities located in the Port and Talamanca areas, two strategic points due to the high volume of water they manage.
Among them, the EBAR Port stands out, a key infrastructure that has a storm tank and an attached rainwater pumping station, elements that help prevent flooding in Ibiza Vila and minimize possible discharges into the sea in the port area during episodes of heavy rain.
During the operation, more than 100 tons of roughing waste from the municipal sanitation network and accumulated in the pumping chambers were removed.
Thanks to these works, the sanitation infrastructures face the summer season in better operating conditions, guaranteeing a safer and more efficient service for the resident population, tourist activity and the protection of the natural environment.
This action is part of the new stage of the wastewater treatment service in Ibiza and Formentera, after ABAQUA awarded the management and operation of the wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) and their associated sanitation networks to the joint venture made up of Facsa, Islasfalto and the Juan Bufí group.
With these types of actions, the company continues to contribute its experience in the operation and maintenance of infrastructure for the complete water cycle, helping to guarantee an efficient, resilient service adapted to the needs of a territory whose demand increases significantly during the summer months.
