Facsa consolidates its presence in the Balearic Islands with the acquisition of Aigües Sant Lluís in Menorca

The company is taking over the management of the water supply and sewage system of Sant Lluís, a concession valid until 2040 that serves more than 5.500 subscribers.

Facsa , a Nealis company specializing in integrated water cycle management, has acquired Aigües Sant Lluís, the company responsible for managing the municipal water supply and sewage services in the municipality of Sant Lluís, Menorca. This acquisition strengthens the company's presence in the Balearic Islands and marks the beginning of a new phase for the service, based on continuity, collaboration with the City Council, and the expertise of the local team.

With this addition, Facsa now holds a municipal concession valid until 2040, serving more than 5.500 customers. The infrastructure managed by Aigües Sant Lluís comprises 115 kilometers of water supply network, 68 kilometers of sewage system, nine reservoirs, and eleven wastewater pumping stations.

A service adapted to the high seasonality of tourism

Sant Lluís has a registered population of over 7.300, although during peak season water demand increases significantly due to tourism. The municipality has the fourth largest accommodation capacity in Menorca, with over 6.200 tourist beds, in addition to more than 1.700 second homes.

According to consumption data recorded by the service, the population served can reach 28.000 people during the summer months, almost four times the resident population. This high seasonality requires rigorous planning of water resources and infrastructure to guarantee the quality and continuity of supply.

Facsa's experience in managing hydraulic systems subject to strong variations in demand will allow it to face this challenge with a model based on efficiency, planning and optimization of resources.
