Facsa Participates in the main urban water congress in Spain with more than a dozen interventions focused on digitalization, operational efficiency, circular economy and adaptation to climate change.
IFEMA Madrid hosted the 38th edition of the DAQUAS Congress from June 3rd to 5th, one of the leading events for the urban water sector in Spain. The event brought together more than 1.200 professionals, representatives from public administrations, operators, and companies to analyze the regulatory, technical, economic, and social challenges that will shape the future of the integrated water cycle.
In a context marked by new European regulations, the need for investment, adaptation to climate change and the digital transformation of the sector, Facsa at DAQUAS had a prominent technical participation with more than a dozen presentations, communications and round tables in which it shared experiences, solutions and innovative projects aimed at improving the sustainability and resilience of water services.
Digitalization was one of the key themes of Facsa's participation at DAQUAS. Joan Pere Avariento, Head of GIS Projects, gave a presentation on the application of digital twins in the advanced management of hydraulic infrastructure.
For her part, Rosario Arnau, Project Manager at Hydrens, addressed the optimization of nutrients and the reduction of nitrous oxide emissions in wastewater treatment plants through the development of an advanced digital twin.
Within the field of technological innovation, Miguel Ortiz, Deputy Technical Director of Water Supply, presented a predictive failure model for submersible pumps designed to anticipate incidents and improve equipment reliability. Likewise, Silvia Doñate, Head of Operations at Hydrens, presented advanced modeling solutions for the hydraulic diagnosis of flood relief systems and the design of more resilient and sustainable infrastructure.
Adapting water systems to the effects of climate change also featured prominently in the technical program. Jorge Morales, Business Development Director, analyzed the impact of extreme weather events on water resources and the need to develop more resilient management strategies.
For his part, Javier Climent, director of Hydrens, focused his speech on the investments needed to improve odor management in wastewater treatment plants, a key aspect to guarantee the sustainability of these infrastructures.
The circular economy was another major topic addressed by Facsa at DAQUAS. Javier E. Sánchez, Head of R&D Projects, presented a study on the recovery and valorization of resources present in sewage sludge for use as fertilizers, biostimulants, and biopesticides.
Regarding operational efficiency, Francesc Gavara, head of the Metrology Department, analyzed the metrological behavior of static domestic meters under real operating conditions, a fundamental issue for improving the accuracy and control of supply systems.
Customer relations also played a key role during the congress. Raquel Ginés, Deputy Director of Customer Management and Continuous Improvement, presented a proposal for a more transparent and understandable water bill, designed to help citizens better understand the true value of the service.
In addition, Laura Gabín, Head of the Training and Development Department, participated in a round table discussion focused on training as a key tool for the professionalization and resilience of the sector. Elena Zuriaga, Head of the R&D&I Projects Department, spoke at a session dedicated to the role of innovation as a driving force for anticipating future challenges in water management.
During the last day of the congress, José Claramonte, general manager of Facsa, participated in the round table "The efficient management of tariffs", where the importance of ensuring adequate financing to undertake the renewal of networks, the modernization of facilities, digitalization, energy efficiency and the adaptation of urban systems to extreme weather events was addressed.
With its participation in DAQUAS, Facsa reaffirms its commitment to water management based on innovation, technical knowledge, collaboration and anticipation, contributing to the development of more efficient, sustainable services prepared to respond to the present and future challenges of the urban water cycle.
