More than 100.000 people gathered last Friday on Valencia's beach for one of the largest San Juan's Eve celebrations in recent memory. And once again, the environmental department of Gimeno Group -Fovasa y Fobesa- and Fovasa Facility have taken over the tasks of conditioning and cleaning the beaches of Malvarrosa and Cabanyal in Valencia for the celebrations.
Nearly 200 people have worked against the clock to erase the traces of the San Juan festival on these beaches, collecting1 4.320 kilos of ash and 27.160 kilos of RHIS.
On Friday, a team of 14 Fovasa Facility workers, supported by four delivery trucks, transported and installed approximately 500 barriers which, along with the warning tape, demarcated the area for the celebration. It should also be noted that throughout the early hours of the 24th, three trucks and four personnel provided support to the Local Police for the seizure of illegally sold products on the beach. Furthermore, the barriers were removed at the end of the festivities.
As for Fovasa Medio Ambiente, in addition to distributing firewood along the promenade, the company was responsible for the cleaning service. For this, they deployed a large team of 18 people, a shuttle bus, a street sweeper, and an inspection service. Once the firewood distribution was complete, 5.000 bags were given to groups of visitors on the sand so they could help with the cleanup.
Regarding the cleaning of both the beach sand area and the promenade, the operation began at 4:00 a.m. and involved a team of 154 people supported by significant technical resources such as two collection trucks, four quad bikes, two tractors with beach cleaning equipment, eight mechanical shovels, six sweepers, two water tanker trucks for washing and two container trucks, among others.
In turn, during the following two days the company has deployed a reinforcement team to review the area, with 10 people on Saturday and five on Sunday who have joined the team that normally provides this service.
Burriana and Oropesa
Not only did Grupo Gimeno's Environment division help ensure Valencia's beaches were in perfect condition after the celebrations, but they also deployed teams in Castellón. Specifically in Burriana, Fobesa established a special operation with approximately 20 people, supported by two backhoe loaders to collect the large municipal bonfires and a multilift truck. In addition, they cleaned up the smaller bonfires and various types of litter left along the entire beach and placed around 20 extra containers in the Paseo Marítimo area.
As for Oropesa, the company reorganized services in the municipality to cover and clean all the beaches with a special operation made up of about 30 people from 4:00 a.m. on the 23rd. In this municipality, a backhoe loader and a dumper truck were also used for the removal of a large municipal bonfire.
