In addition to cleaning Playa del Pinar, the company has made visible, through a participatory debate, the problem of plastic pollution and its consequences in the marine environment.
This activity was carried out in collaboration with the NGO Xaloc and involved approximately fifteen people - including employees of Facsa And family members—who, since ten in the morning, have joined forces to collect and sort all kinds of waste, prioritizing the removal of microplastics. After the cleanup, all the volunteers reflected on the solutions and alternatives that can be adopted to reduce our consumption of single-use plastics.
In this sense, as Pilar Soria, head of the CSR department of Facsa, has indicated, “environmental volunteering is an awareness and dissemination tool in which, in addition to helping the conservation of the environment, one learns and shares time with people united by a common goal: to save natural resources and reduce pollution and the loss of biodiversity.”
It is worth noting that the event was also held on September 18th at Sant Joan de Alcúdia Beach (Mallorca), where more than 50 people collected 33 kilos of waste. The activity was led by Acasa, the Facsa company that manages the water supply for this municipality, in collaboration with the NGO Save the Med and the local council. It was also part of the European Let's Clean Europe program, a European initiative that aims to map the results of clean-up efforts in a database.
These actions are part of the awareness campaigns for citizens that the company carries out throughout the year with the aim of improving their knowledge about water culture and raising environmental awareness.
Specifically, the company's efforts, actions and objectives are geared towards the following general strategic lines: water conservation, climate change mitigation and social commitment.
