tagusThe company that manages the water and sewage services in Toledo has awarded the prizes for the 5th Annual School Drawing and Painting Competition. This competition, organized by the company in conjunction with the Toledo City Council, aims to raise children's awareness of the importance of environmental protection and, in particular, the need to use water responsibly as a limited yet essential resource for life.
Furthermore, under the slogan "The Super Water Team," both organizations wanted to give the professionals in this service the recognition they deserve. It's worth noting that in recent years the team has not only had to deal with a pandemic, but also with extraordinary weather events, such as Storm Filomena and the DANA phenomenon.
The mayor of the city, Ms. Milagros Tolón, and the councilor for Works and Services, Urban Agenda and Ecological Transition, Ms. Noelia de la Cruz, together with the general director of TAGUS, Luis Soto, and the operations technician and head of the initiative, Patricia Payo, were in charge of presenting the awards to the winners.
In total, more than 500 students from 17 schools in the regional capital participated. The works submitted by Eva Sardinero, a 6th-grade student at CEIP La Candelaria; Noelia Pardo, a 5th-grade student at CEIP Garcilaso de la Vega; and Hugo Gálvez, a 5th-grade student at CEIP Gregorio Marañón, were selected by the jury as the most representative of this year's competition, earning them a laptop, a tablet, and a 4G smartwatch, respectively.
This activity is aimed at students in the third cycle of Primary Education, in which the students of the schools of Toledo have demonstrated their great involvement, skill and originality when it comes to portraying who the people are that make up the Municipal Water and Sewerage Service.
