Nealis Tech adapts the ceramic industry of Castellón to the new water regulations

Facsa has had a prominent presence at the 4th IWA-YWP Spain National Conference, where it presented its innovative projects focused on resource regeneration and environmental sustainability in the water sector. Company representatives shared experiences and knowledge at this event, which brought together young professionals from the water sector to discuss the main challenges and solutions for sustainable water management. Organized by Young Water Professionals (YWP) Spain together with AGA-AEAS and the Bilbao Bizkaia Water Consortium (CABB), the conference took place in the Bizkaia Aretoa building of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). As a bronze sponsor, Facsa It reaffirmed its commitment to innovation and sustainability, actively contributing to the search for responsible solutions in the water sector.
Raquel Tamarit, R&D&I technician at Facsa, presented the SYMSITES project, which aims to foster industrial symbiosis through advanced technologies for water regeneration and waste treatment. This project seeks to recover value-added products from urban and industrial waste, promoting an urban-industrial symbiosis model and evaluating its social, economic, and environmental impact.
Paloma Torrent, a water treatment technician at the company, presented the LIFE SPOT project, which focuses on developing environmentally friendly treatments to remove contaminants from groundwater. With this project, Facsa is promoting green solutions that contribute to the quality of water resources, one of its key objectives.
Rosario Arnau, Project Manager at HYDRENS, presented the DTCONEDAR project, which aims to develop digital twins for Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTPs), improving energy efficiency and the removal of pathogens and emerging contaminants. This project has already completed two phases: Phase 1 involved developing a digital twin of the UV channels at a WWTP in Murcia, while Phase 2 expanded the project to include a digital twin of the biological reactor at another WWTP in the same region. Arnau also received the award for best presentation at the conference, highlighting her technical contribution to this year's event.
In addition to his technical presentations, Arnau participated in several roundtables. As Head of International Relations and Sustainability at YWP Spain, he moderated the CEO panel, which included, for the first time, Fernando Maza, the new president of AGA-AEAS, along with industry leaders such as Santiago Lafuente (FCC Aqualia), Vicente Fajardo (Global Omnium), and Pedro Barreiro (Bilbao Bizkaia Water Consortium). Arnau also moderated the panel entitled "Is Artificial Intelligence Drinking Our Water?", which analyzed the advances and challenges of artificial intelligence in water resource management, and participated in the roundtable on the visual impact of wastewater treatment plants, contributing his perspective as a representative of YWP Spain.
The 4th IWA-YWP Spain National Conference has thus established itself as a key event for promoting research, innovation, and the development of projects focused on sustainability in the water sector. During the conference, in addition to presentations and roundtables, participants enjoyed workshops and technical visits, which fostered networking and strengthened collaboration among the young professionals in attendance. Facsa, through its contribution to this forum, reaffirmed its commitment to innovation in water management and to advancing towards a more sustainable model.
