The FACSA Chair of Innovation in the Integrated Water Cycle at Jaume I University is launching the fourth edition of its Awards for the best Undergraduate Final Project, Master's Final Project, and Doctoral Thesis. The Chair continues its commitment to fostering research talent and recognizing this work within the study of the integrated water cycle, awarding prizes to the most outstanding projects carried out by young researchers. More importantly, it aims to showcase to society the excellent work being done at universities and research centers, and the significant effort dedicated to conserving water as an essential resource. Another key objective of the Chair with these awards is to attract talented future researchers to this field of study, which is fundamental to the sustainable development of society.
The high level demonstrated by participants in the initial editions encouraged the expansion of the awards to the entire country last year, resulting in a resounding success in terms of both participation and the quality of the submitted work. Therefore, the awards are now firmly established at the national level, and any university student or researcher who defended their Bachelor's Thesis, Master's Thesis, or doctoral dissertation at any public or private university in Spain during 2018 and 2019, and whose work falls within the scope of the integrated water cycle in a broad sense, is eligible to apply.
The call for applications will be open until March 15, 2020. The rules and instructions for participation can be found on the Chair's website. www.catedradelagua.uji.es.
The judging panel will consist of Professor Sergio Chiva, Director of the FACSA-UJI Chair; José Guillermo Berlanga, Director of R&D&I and Continuous Improvement at Grupo Gimeno; and Professors Jorge Rodrigues, from the Masdar Institute of Science & Technology in Abu Dhabi; Teresa Huguet Vicent, from the Autonomous University of Barcelona; and Javier Navarro, Miguel Martín, and Fernando M. Alzamora, from the Polytechnic University of Valencia. The prizes are €300 for the best Bachelor's Thesis, €400 for the best Master's Thesis, and €1.000 for the best Doctoral Dissertation. The winning projects will be published online, and if the jury deems it appropriate, the doctoral dissertation will be published in the UJI Chair's collection.
