Foz promotes a strategic modernization of its urban water cycle with a new management contract

FACSA The company is expanding the scope of its energy efficiency management certifications. For the first time, three of its facilities in the Balearic Islands have obtained ISO 50001 accreditation for their energy management systems. Specifically, these are the water supply for Sa Marineta-Sa Costera and the Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTPs) of Sant Elm and Formentor, located on the island of Mallorca.
The three facilities, which have been certified for the first time, have successfully passed the audits carried out by SGS, a world leader in inspection, verification, testing and certification, and accredited by the National Accreditation Entity (ENAC).
Furthermore, thanks to the work of the company's Quality, Environment and Health and Safety department and the technicians involved, the Grupo Gimeno company has also renewed this same certification in various facilities located in the centers it manages in different parts of the Valencian Community and Murcia, such as the Drinking Water Supply Service of Vila-real and the WWTPs of Almassora, Mazarrón, Puerto Lumbreras, Alhama de Murcia, El Cañarico, Totana, Aledo and Librilla.
A milestone that the company plans to expand in the coming months by certifying, for the first time, the San Jerónimo Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in Seville. This measure will allow the company to extend the reach of this type of certification to a new autonomous community.
Among other objectives, the implementation of the ISO 50001 Energy Management System aims to establish the systems, mechanisms, and processes necessary for the control and continuous improvement of the company's energy performance. These procedures include incorporating energy criteria into decision-making, controlling process variables that may affect energy performance, ensuring the proper use and management of energy consumption, and implementing specific action plans.
The ISO 50001 standard provides the necessary tools to identify activities with the most significant energy consumption, which could lead to potential energy and cost losses. In this regard, it facilitates the implementation of plans with specific measures to minimize energy consumption across different facilities. This aligns with FACSA's integrated management policy, which is committed to energy efficiency, the rational use of energy, and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. This commitment includes establishing energy criteria in the company's various processes and decision-making.
