FacsaThe company, the 'origin' of Grupo Gimeno, has increased its commitment to innovation, developing pioneering projects in digitalization and sustainability to improve the complete water cycle.
Over the past five years (2019-2024), Facsa has completed a total of 51 R&D projects, reflecting its strong commitment to innovation. The total investment during this period amounts to €13.5 million, highlighting the company's focus on strategic areas related to technological development and sustainability.
During 2024, Facsa The company has worked on 32 R&D projects, 7 of which are funded by the Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe programs. In 2024, the company allocated a budget of €3 million to R&D, a significant increase compared to previous years. Most of the projects focus on digitalization, waste treatment, and water reuse, with the aim of achieving greater sustainability and efficiency in its processes.

Among the year's key milestones is the launch of the SINARGIA project, which aims to digitize the entire water cycle in the municipality of Castellón. This ambitious project, approved in the second call for proposals of the PERTE Water program and carried out in collaboration with the Castellón City Council, reflects Facsa's commitment to integrating advanced technologies into water management.
Also in the area of digitalization, projects such as SIRERA have been launched, focused on the reuse of wastewater in agriculture, in collaboration with the Villarreal Irrigation Community, the Universitat Jaume I, IVIA, La Unió de Llauradora i Ramadera, Giditek and Heliotec, and ODORGIS, a project that combines CFD and GIS modeling techniques to improve the management of odors and air pollution.
In the hydrogen sector, Facsa is researching new production methods using water as a key resource. Its participation in the H2VAL project aims to innovate in the manufacture of electrolyzers, using abundant and renewable materials instead of critical and expensive elements. Furthermore, in projects such as Symsites, Facsa is exploring the production of hydrogen and biomethane, along with water reuse at the Alcoy wastewater treatment plant, with support from EPSAR.
The company has also launched European projects such as NIAGARA and FUELS-C, which address research in bioenergy and advanced waste treatment techniques, such as thermal hydrolysis, anaerobic digestion, and pyrolysis. In collaboration with numerous European partners, these projects demonstrate Facsa's commitment to innovation in bioenergy.
Over the past five years, the company has collaborated with 51 universities and research centers. Currently, Facsa maintains active endowed chairs at the Polytechnic University of Valencia and the Jaume I University, focusing on water, waste, and the circular economy.
