The DECOB project validates a predictive methodology to anticipate possible incidents in submersible pumping systems

FACSAFACSA, the concessionaire for the drinking water service of the Almassora City Council, will invest more than 200.000 euros in 2021 in the renovation of the infrastructure of drinking water of the town. The “Infrastructure Renewal Project 2021” for the current year, based on the guidelines set by the “Supply Master Plan”, determines the projects and objectives to guarantee an improvement of service to the customer and the correct maintenance of the network.
The Councillor for Public Services, Joan Antoni Trenco, will provide details tomorrow in committee to the spokespeople of the political groups with municipal representation. He will discuss a document that defines, both technically and financially, the expansion, renovation, or improvement works for the drinking water infrastructure, in accordance with the master plan's guidelines.
Specifically, in 2021 it will address the repair of cracks in the Tellado reservoir, the fencing of some plots of the facilities, the renewal of the inlet valves to the Re-lift reservoir and the replacement of the variators of wells 2 and 3.
Furthermore, with the aim of improving and optimizing network management, this year includes the implementation of a continuous monitoring system for the flow rates injected into two sectors of the water supply system. To this end, automatic data logging equipment will be installed, which, connected to the sector meters, will provide continuous information on the flow rates entering each sector. The main advantage of this information is the early detection and correction of potential network anomalies, even before users perceive their effects, thus minimizing water losses in the network.
With this action, the concessionary company continues the work carried out during 2020, in which two sectors were integrated into the remote monitoring system of the municipal water supply service. Thus, once the necessary work is completed, 11 of the 14 existing sectors in the Almassora water supply will be integrated into the monitoring system.
In addition to these actions, this year's project includes the installation of a tanker truck loading point, the renewal of the drinking water network in the area around San Jaime Square and in a section of Almassora beach, as well as the conditioning of well 3.
The work follows improvements to the drinking water network on Las Farolas and Garbí streets and Mediterránea Avenue, all located in the coastal area of the town. These improvements resolved the neighborhood's persistent problems with leaks and supply issues, ensuring a long-term water supply for homes.
The councilor pointed out that these interventions “are distributed by zones according to the condition and age of each section, with the aim of minimizing disruption to residents and preventing service interruptions.” For this reason, the department has also committed to improving the notification system for scheduled works to avoid inconveniencing customers.
