Foz promotes a strategic modernization of its urban water cycle with a new management contract

FACSA, through the Bioedaria project, has actively participated in the Innovation Day that the technological center AINIA has recently organized.
During the session, which addressed the programs for financing and support for business R&D&I, Rubén García Tirado, R&D&I technician at FACSA, presented the progress of the initiative.
Bioedaria aims to transform the sludge treatment processes that occur in Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTPs) into biorefineries capable of generating value-added products, turning waste into resources.
Currently, the project is studying how, through the combined application of different biotechnological processes, such as two-phase anaerobic digestion, microalgae cultivation and the bioaccumulation of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) and biophosphates (Poly-P), it is possible to transform waste into new products such as biogas, bioplastics or biofertilizers.
The project, which began in March 2019 and will continue until the end of the current year, has been financed by the Valencia Innovation Agency (AVI) -reference INNCAD00/19/061- and also has the collaboration of the AINIA Technology Centre, which is in charge of laboratory scale experimentation and providing its technical advice during the project.
