The commitment of Facsa The commitment to equal access to university education has once again been reflected in its scholarship program for undergraduate students at Universitat Jaume I registered as residents of Castelló de la Plana. In its ninth edition, corresponding to the 2024/2025 academic year, the program received 124 applications, of which 22 students were selected to receive financial aid to cover part of their tuition fees. A total of €22.000 in grants were awarded.
Since its launch in the 2016/2017 academic year, this initiative has consolidated its impact with a total of 1.004 applications received, 219 students awarded scholarships and a total financial amount of 198.373,78 euros, intended to promote equal opportunities in access to university.
The award ceremony, held at the Universitat Jaume I, was attended by the rector of the academic institution, Eva Alcón; the manager of the Fundació General de la UJI, Juan Antonio Bertolín; the CEO of Facsa, Elena Llopis; and the area coordinator of Facsa, Patricia Agrasar.
During his speech, Llopis highlighted that in Facsa “We understand education as one of the main drivers of collective progress, and that is why we are especially proud to be able to contribute, year after year, to making access to university a reality for all students, regardless of their economic situation.”
He also emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between the business and academic sectors. “This collaboration with the UJI allows us to support young talent and reinforces our commitment to a fairer, more cohesive society, better prepared to face the challenges of the future.” Llopis congratulated the scholarship recipients and encouraged them to seize this opportunity “with enthusiasm, hard work, and a commitment to the society that trusts in your talent.”
For her part, Eva Alcón pointed out that this event “reaffirms the transformative role of university education and the conviction that no one should be excluded from university for economic reasons.” The rector recalled that, with this same philosophy, the UJI has strengthened its student support system with measures such as modifications to its own scholarship program, increased internal funding, collaboration with external entities, and fundraising campaigns.
“You are 22 students selected from 124 applicants based on academic and financial criteria. Therefore, you can be proud to receive this scholarship, celebrate the opportunity it represents for your future, and, if I may say so, continue your studies responsibly so that you can repay society for this support,” he concluded.
With initiatives like this, Facsa and Universitat Jaume I reinforce their commitment to promoting local talent and building a more equitable society, in which university education is a real opportunity for everyone.
