Myriam Gimeno shares Nealis's vision on equality at the 10th Colloquium on Women, Science and Business

Public awareness campaigns to promote responsible water use are taking center stage these days, given the lack of rain that has led to the Balearic Islands being on pre-alert for drought.
In this context, the City Council of Sant Llorenç des Cardassar (Mallorca) and Facsa They have promoted in the Auditorium of Sa Màniga, in Cala Millor, a day of dissemination on the integral water cycle which has been attended by more than 150 people from CEIP Mestre Guillem Galmés, CEIP Sant Miquel and CEIP Punta de n'Amer and the first year scientific baccalaureate students of IES Puig de Sa Font.
During the day, both the third grade primary school students and the first year of high school students received, at their respective levels, an explanation of the complete water cycle, referring to the current situation of the municipality of Sant Llorenç, the origin of drinking water, the commitment of the City Council to regenerated water and some tips and good daily habits to promote responsible water consumption.
Next, the third-grade boys and girls became scientists for a day, simulating, through a simple experiment, how water is polluted in homes and cities and learning about the wastewater treatment process. This allowed them to reinforce, in a fun way, the concepts and values they had learned. This activity is part of the educational and awareness project of Facsa 'The Course of Water' that landed in Mallorca in 2022.
In turn, high school students have had the opportunity to delve into the complete water cycle through virtual reality glasses, thanks to the company's second initiative #connecttowater.
The mayor of Sant Llorenç, Jaume Soler, highlighted at the presentation of the activity the council's interest in "raising awareness from childhood about the scarcity of water as a basic natural resource and the importance of using it responsibly" and acknowledged "the important work of dissemination and awareness carried out by the company Facsa through its educational projects."
The event in Mallorca was attended by Pilar Soria, head of Facsa's two outreach projects; Magdalena Campins, operations manager; and Javier Ripollés, area coordinator. Through their collaboration, the company and the local council successfully helped schoolchildren understand the critical nature of water today and the importance of using this invaluable resource responsibly.
