Gimeno Group and the Business Confederation of the Valencian Community (CEVToday, Grupo Gimeno held a conference focused on energy efficiency, highlighting the potential of Energy Saving Certificate Systems (CAES) as a driver of competitiveness for companies in the region. During the event, Grupo Gimeno demonstrated its commitment to sustainability by presenting innovative projects and success stories implemented in different sectors across its own business units.
Inmaculada García Pardo, CEO of the Valencian Business Confederation (CEV), opened the event by highlighting the importance of Energy Efficiency Centers (CAES) in promoting energy efficiency in the Valencian Community: “It is essential to continue advancing initiatives that promote energy efficiency, not only from an environmental sustainability perspective, but also as an engine of competitiveness and economic growth.” She emphasized that their implementation “contributes to society as a whole, promoting more responsible resource management and reducing the carbon footprint.” During the event's presentation, José Luis Vilar, CEO of Grupo Gimeno, noted that “at Grupo Gimeno, we have had the opportunity to promote real-world use cases thanks to the diversification of our activities, which allows us to contribute experiences from different sectors.” He also pointed out that “energy efficiency is not just an administrative or institutional challenge, but a real necessity that companies themselves must address. In Spain, we need to move towards renewable energies and promote the transformation of our equipment, with the aim of becoming more competitive and sustainable. It is essential that, together with the government and all stakeholders, we highlight the value of this transformation, taking advantage of powerful tools such as Energy Saving Certificates (CAES).”
Rafael Benjumea, from the Business Development department of Grupo Gimeno in this area, highlighted the potential of Energy Efficiency Certificates (CAES) for maximizing the return on investment in energy efficiency and their applicability across multiple sectors. Benjumea explained that the coverage percentage for investments generating CAES can reach 100%, although in practice, coverage has been found to range from 30% to over 70%.
The event also included a round table discussion moderated by Salvador Serrano, secretary of the CEV Energy Commission, which addressed success stories in the use of Energy Saving Certificates (CAES). Representatives from Facsa, Portsur, Intelier Hoteles, and Iberdrola shared their experiences, highlighting the potential of Energy Saving Certificates (CAES) as a competitive business advantage in various sectors. Specifically, in the hotel sector, Intelier Hoteles has implemented advanced energy efficiency solutions. Thanks to the work of Genera Facility, also part of the Gimeno Group, the hotels' climate control is managed, while IoTsens, another of its companies, handles the digitalization of energy consumption and control, facilitating the acquisition of Energy Saving Certificates (CAES). Furthermore, an innovative aerothermal project applied to industrial processes was presented, a technology that not only optimizes energy consumption but also contributes to reducing the carbon footprint in the production sector.
The event highlighted the importance of collaboration between companies and institutions to promote energy efficiency in the Valencian Community, demonstrating how CAES can become a key tool to foster business competitiveness and sustainable development.
